ONU VIP allows selected subscriber ONUs to be monitored individually by the Massive Events system. It is intended for customers or network connections that require additional operational visibility and dedicated event handling.
Unlike standard FTTX Massive Events, which correlate conditions affecting multiple ONUs, ONU VIP monitoring can generate a dedicated event for an individually selected ONU.
Once an ONU is added to the VIP list, the Portal can surface dedicated events when supported connectivity conditions are detected for that subscriber.
An ONU VIP is an ONU that has been explicitly selected for individual monitoring in the Portal.
This allows operations teams to give additional visibility to specific subscribers without waiting for a condition to affect multiple ONUs before an event is surfaced.
| Condition | Meaning |
|---|---|
| LOS | The monitored ONU has lost its optical signal. |
| Power Fail | The monitored ONU reports a power-related condition. |
| Down | The monitored ONU is detected as unavailable or offline. |
The Customer Service screen provides a quick way to check and manage ONU VIP monitoring while viewing an individual subscriber.
This option is useful when an operator is already assisting or investigating a specific customer and needs to verify or change the ONU VIP status without opening the dedicated ONU VIP management page.
The ONU VIP button in the Customer Service action bar is used to change the VIP status of the subscriber's ONU.
Click the button to mark the ONU as VIP when it is not currently monitored as VIP, or to remove the ONU from VIP monitoring when it is already configured as VIP.
The crown indicator provides a quick visual confirmation that the current subscriber's ONU is configured as an ONU VIP.
Operators can use this indicator to verify the VIP status directly from the Customer Service screen without opening the dedicated ONU VIP list.
An ONU can be added to VIP monitoring from the dedicated ONU VIP page or directly from the subscriber's SAC screen.
The ONU VIP page is useful when searching for or managing one or more ONUs, while SAC provides a faster workflow when working with a specific subscriber.
Use the following procedure when adding ONUs from the dedicated ONU VIP management page.
Open the desired subscriber in SAC and click the ONU VIP button in the action bar.
Once the ONU is marked as VIP, the crown indicator appears on the SAC screen, providing visual confirmation that the ONU is configured for VIP monitoring.
Removing an ONU from VIP monitoring stops dedicated ONU VIP event generation for that subscriber.
The ONU can be removed either from the dedicated ONU VIP page or directly from SAC.
Use the following procedure when removing ONUs from the dedicated ONU VIP management page.
Open the subscriber in SAC and click the ONU VIP button again to remove the ONU from VIP monitoring.
After the ONU is removed from VIP monitoring, the VIP crown indicator is no longer displayed for that subscriber.
The following rules are important when configuring and interpreting ONU VIP monitoring.
VIP monitoring is assigned individually to each ONU.
There is no separate VIP group that must be created or maintained. Each subscriber ONU is independently added to or removed from VIP monitoring.
An ONU configured as VIP can still participate in normal FTTX Massive Event detection.
If the ONU belongs to a PONLink affected by a broader FTTX Massive Event, the Portal can represent the individual ONU VIP condition while the same ONU also contributes to the corresponding FTTX event.
Dedicated ONU VIP events are generated only for ONUs that have been explicitly added to the VIP list.
Removing an ONU from the list disables this dedicated monitoring without changing the ONU's normal participation in other Massive Event categories.
ONU VIP is useful when individual subscribers require greater operational visibility than the standard massive-event correlation workflow provides.
For example, an operations team may use VIP monitoring for priority subscribers, critical connections, or other ONUs that should generate a dedicated event when a supported connectivity condition is detected.
Because VIP monitoring operates at the individual ONU level, it complements rather than replaces FTTX Massive Event detection.
